Tour Plan

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park – Karatu

Your safari begins with a morning departure from Arusha, driving south to Tarangire National Park, renowned for its giant baobab trees and massive elephant herds. Spend the day exploring the park’s riverbanks and open plains where elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and impalas congregate. Scan the acacia branches for tree-climbing pythons and predators taking refuge from the midday heat. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush before completing an afternoon game drive and heading up to the green hills of Karatu to check in at Marera Valley Lodge for dinner and rest.

Main Destination: Tarangire National Park
Accommodation: Marera Valley Lodge

Day 2: Karatu – Central Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, leave Karatu and drive through the mist-covered Ngorongoro Highlands before descending into the vast, rolling grasslands of the Serengeti. Wildlife viewing starts immediately as you enter the Naabi Hill gate and venture into the Central Serengeti (Seronera valley). Known for its high concentration of resident predators, Seronera features acacia woodlands and granite kopjes frequented by lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Enjoy an afternoon game drive tracking resident game before retiring to Kontiki Serengeti Camp for dinner under the African sky.

Main Destination: Central Serengeti National Park

Day 3: Central Serengeti – Northern Serengeti (Kogatende Region)

Following breakfast, set off on a scenic game-drive transfer northward toward the Mara River region in the Northern Serengeti. As the landscape shifts into rolling hills and riverine woodlands, you enter the primary staging ground for the Great Migration. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive along the banks of the Mara River, where hundreds of thousands of wildebeests and zebras gather, facing Nile crocodiles as they prepare for dramatic river crossings. Afterwards, head to Sero Mara Camp for check-in and dinner.

Main Destination: Northern Serengeti National Park
Accommodation: Sero Mara Camp

Day 4: Northern Serengeti Game Drive – Central Serengeti

Spend the morning conducting game drives around the northern river banks and surrounding savannahs to witness active migratory movement, predator-prey dynamics, and high concentrations of wildlife in golden morning light. After a full morning exploration and a field lunch, begin your safari drive back toward the Central Serengeti. Keep your camera ready as you pass through diverse habitats home to elands, topis, hyenas, and prides of lions. Arrive back at Kontiki Serengeti Camp in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

Main Destination: Central Serengeti National Park

Day 5: Central Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area (Overnight)

Rise early for a final morning game drive across the Central Serengeti, catching predators while they are still active in the cooler hours. Return for lunch or pack a picnic before departing the Serengeti and enjoying wildlife viewing en route as you drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Ascend to the crater rim in the late afternoon, taking in panoramic views across the massive volcanic caldera, before heading to your lodge on the crater rim or nearby Karatu for dinner and overnight rest.

This self-contained natural wildlife sanctuary holds over 25,000 large animals, offering unmatched opportunities to view the Big Five—including rare black rhinos, giant tusked elephants, and dense lion prides—all within a single morning. Enjoy a scenic picnic lunch next to a hippo pool before ascending the crater walls and driving back to Arusha or directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your departure flight.
