Tour Plan

Day 1: Moshi – Rongai Gate – Simba Camp (2,600 m)

Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins after an early breakfast at your hotel in Moshi. A scenic drive takes you through rural villages and farmland to Rongai Gate, located on the northern slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro near the Kenyan border. After completing park registration and meeting your mountain crew, begin your trek through cultivated fields before entering the lush rainforest. Listen to the sounds of tropical birds and watch for black-and-white colobus monkeys as the trail gradually ascends to Simba Camp, nestled in a sheltered valley.

Day 2: Simba Camp – Kikelelwa Camp (3,600 m)

After breakfast, continue climbing as the dense forest gradually gives way to open moorland filled with giant lobelias and groundsels. Pass the historic First and Second Caves before leaving the main trail to head east toward the spectacular Mawenzi massif. The route winds through rocky valleys and rolling highlands before reaching the peaceful Kikelelwa Camp, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery.

Day 3: Kikelelwa Camp – Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330 m)

Today's trek is shorter but steeper as you climb toward the magnificent Mawenzi Tarn, situated beneath the towering cliffs of Mawenzi Peak (5,149 m). The dramatic volcanic landscape and crystal-clear tarn create one of Kilimanjaro's most picturesque camps. After lunch, there is time for a gentle acclimatization walk around the tarn before returning to camp.

Day 4: Acclimatization Day at Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330 m)

Today is dedicated to rest and acclimatization, greatly increasing your chances of a successful summit. After breakfast, enjoy optional short hikes around Mawenzi Tarn and the surrounding rocky ridges. These gentle walks help your body adjust to the altitude while rewarding you with incredible panoramic views. Spend the remainder of the day resting, hydrating, and preparing mentally and physically for the summit days ahead.

Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn – Kibo Hut (4,700 m)

After breakfast, leave Mawenzi behind and cross the vast alpine saddle separating Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks. This barren volcanic landscape provides unforgettable views of Kilimanjaro's summit cone. Arrive at Kibo Hut, your final camp before the summit attempt. After lunch, spend the afternoon resting, organizing your summit gear, and enjoying an early dinner before retiring for a few hours of sleep.

Day 6: Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak – Horombo Hut (3,720 m)

Just after midnight, begin your summit attempt under a sky filled with stars. Following a steady zigzag trail, ascend past Hans Meyer Cave to Gilman's Point (5,685 m) before continuing along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement with sunrise photographs before beginning the descent. Return to Kibo Hut for a short rest and refreshments before continuing down to Horombo Hut, where a well-earned dinner and comfortable night's sleep await.

Day 7: Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate – Moshi

Following breakfast, begin your final descent through the moorland before re-entering the lush rainforest. Enjoy one last opportunity to admire Kilimanjaro's diverse ecosystems as the trail leads to Marangu Gate. After completing park formalities, receive your official summit certificate before meeting your driver for the return transfer to Moshi. Your incredible Kilimanjaro adventure concludes with memories that will last a lifetime.
